I’m also in the South Hams, this was in Tesco’s Car Park in Kingsbridge, I was only popping in for a moment so didn’t shut the roof. Luckily (?) for me, it was only the passenger seat (and i later found out half the passenger door) and not the driver’s seat.
Could have been worse Simon - imagine the scenario of the wife sat in the car at the time:-)
Feeling lucky as my MK1 went straight through its MOT at ATS, Kingsbridge on Friday. To celebrate I took my other half to Morrisons. I waited in the car park with the roof down - perhaps it was my lucky day.
The mackerel are in at the moment and that ugly concoction looks like mackerel diarrhea.
Lidl sell (sometimes) cheap car covers. Best to ensure you car is spotless before covering it as any dust will act as an abrasive whe the cover moves over the car and it will scratch the paint. If not, invest in a paint protection treatment as that acts as a barrier.
I always have a Mazda ‘half-cover’ on my car as soon as I pull up on the drive. It’s one thing to have mutant seagull poo on the paintwork, and another entirely to have it on the mohair roof!! We have telegraph poles outside and wires stretching above the drive which tend to attract the little flying treasures! The half cover is very light and stores quickly and easily in the boot. It doesn’t touch the bodywork so the car does not need to be spotlessly clean. It takes less than a minute to fit and velcroes under the door mirror and door handles and well as tethering under the wipers and boot lid. Simples!
In the winter however, I have a fully tailored ‘Stormshield’ cover that is sometimes left on for a few weeks at a time hence I have to ensure a perfectly clean bodywork first to avoid scratches.
I was just south of Birmingham yesterday following a black Mk 3 with hard top, that was doing 30mph in a 40mph zone and then 40mph in the following 50mph zone. Now I know why. His windscreen was obviously covered in bird droppings and he was struggling to see where he was going. Trouble was that I was in an HGV and everybody in the queue behind thought it was me holding up the traffic.
