Shock treatment?

Last MOT Advisories;- ‘misting of rear shocks’ (Bilsteins - 2013 NC3.75 PRHT). Recently enquired renewal costs from local main dealer -> £300+ VAT for each part before labour ! MX5 Parts quotes ~£220 retail parts cost.

Dealer has been good in past but is unable to explain vast difference in cost on this one .Anyone got any suggestions ?

A light misting of oil is quite common on Bilstiens, I’d clean it off (it’ll wipe off easily with the suspension hanging free), monitor it and not be too worried about it.

Considered this myself and seems a set of Meisters is cheaper than a replacement set of Bilsteins. Food for thought…

Though aftermarket shocks may add to your insurance premium

And the ride quality with Meisters will be very different… Whether for the better or worse is entirely a judgement call based on personal preference and driving style.
