I’ve used it for over 10yrs across NA, NC & ND. Suits me well, weight is good for me (240g ) and there’s a bit of extra height as you say.
Classic is different, but it’s fairly subtle:
ICT illuminated gearknob which comes with lovely leather gaiter. There’s more than this design to choose from and you can choose what colour it illuminates (6 choices). Fabulous German quality, good price and feels good in the hand. I’ve bought several so far for all the cars in the family. Check them out via eBay

My EP3’s aluminium gear knob got so hot in the summer and so cold in the winter, that ended up buying one of these
