Single clunk from rear on turning right

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 1999 mk2 1.8
  2. I’m based near: __Sheffield
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ clunking noise from rear

Hi all, I assume that my vehicle has an LSD as it has all the other aspects of being a 1998 1.8S model. In the morning I reverse 5 metres out of my property, drive a hundred metres down the road to a T-junction. When I pull out onto the main road to the right, accelerating as I do so, I get a single clunk from what feels like the diff. This has happened occasionally at other times when turning right and accelerating from rest. It does not always happen though. Does this ring any bells with anyone? Thanks in anticipation.

I’d be inclined to eliminate brake pads clunking, broken drop link or even a broken spring before suspecting the diff.
