I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __a small roof leak
Hi. My roof develops a small leak on the driver’s side, in the corner where the roof meets the windscreen. There’s a small plastic cap covering this area and small drips will land on my knee/leg every now and then. I think all the drainage holes are clear, although I’m not sure I’ve located all of them. I removed the plastic cap and there’s nothing obvious. At the end of the roof, where it meets the windscreen, there are two screws in the rubber seal. I removed them and the seal seems fine (it appears to be glued on underneath where it runs along the roof edge to the rear of the car).
I’m at a bit of a loss as to how it’s getting in and how to stop it.
Thanks for finding that for us. I did do a search, but obviously not a good enough one! I’ve been using Gummi Pfledge as I had some from my last car. It treats the rubber seals very well. Since my little adjustment, we’d had a thunderstorm and all seems dry still. Maybe it was just a little fettling that was needed?
Yep it’s surprising just treating the rubbers it can seal the rubber to glass or whatever better. I had an annoying drip on a MK1 hood, cleaned and treated the rubbers, adjusted the catches etc, no more leaks.
Ok. So actually no change. More rain overnight, more leaking. I removed the cap this morning to find water might be coming from the side of the roof, above where the window is and tracking down.
