So here she is. My new NA...

So this is it.  Me and Mrs Papanicola picked up this little MX5 1.8iS last Thursday.  We were looking for an NA with power steering and we found this one at a dealer in Dormansland in Surrey.  Overall she is in good nick. She had full history and only 2 previous owners.  The last owner traded her in at a main dealer for a newer car.  After having test driven the car the dealer agreed to do the include the following things in the price:

  • Sort out the brakes (ended up needing new front discs, pads and pins)

  • Years MOT

  • Replace the damaged rear screen

  • Sort out the rust on the seals (this was not major but it had started to bubble)

As the car had reached 101k the dealer (they also run a garage there mainly specialising in Mazda’s) the dealer said he was willing to go halves with me with a new timing belt kit, which includes all the bearings etc., so it ended up costing me £90 fitted. Total paid £2290.00  Seemed like a good price to me.

So far the only problems i have had are lazy electric windows, which I am looking to cure with silly-cone spray and worn wiper blade which I have cured by buying new ones. [:D]

All in all a fun car.  Not as fast as I expected but it seems to rev forever.  Looking to take it on a jaunt to the South of France at the end of the month so will give it a good work out.

Try it with the hood down. It won’t be faster but it will seem like it !  [:D]

I’ve found these cars are not about speed - they’re about not having to slow down… [:P]

Tidy little 5 that - very nice

  • now if only I could get those dinky pop up lights om Jan’s Mk3 I’d be very happy…

Oh yer.  We took it for a drive down to Guildford yesterday with the top down.  She was mighty fun. [:D]
