This is a follow-on from the old forum … for info if anyone was following the thread. For those who read my original posting and who suggested a failing slave cylinder even though there was no sign of leakage and loss of fluid (thank you Geoff, star of the new magazine [:D] ) … while having an MOT test today I asked the garage to change the slave cylinder. I can report that the clutch action is very much improved - much smoother and more positive.
I also got them to change the gearbox oil to Silkolene Silktran Syn 5, as recommeded by Guy at Opie Oils. I’ll wait until I’ve done a longer run, but it appears that the gear change is considerably smoother and the slight ‘zizzing’ noise when accelerating in 4th gear has gone.
I shall celebrate with a beer [B]
