Soft top clean & condition fail

That’s more that a simple roof leak, you’ve got to have water collecting somewhere inside the cabin or boot.

Hi guys thanks for all the terific responce advice and suggestions. Brilliant
My stratagy will be;
Check sills for drainage .
Check hood drain holes are clear
Check that there is no water build up on floors. Take out floor mats and boot liner to dry out indoors.
Drive car around with hood down on Sunny days
Thuroughly clean & Vax fabric roof using AutoGlym kit. As instructed.
That should sort out water problems.
Had to charge battery for 24 Hrs as Starter would not crank. It has been getting slower.
Had battery checked proffesionaly.
Have bought a good used Starter motor. All working ok after a lot of stop start driving today.

You also need to thoroughly clean the whole inside of the car otherwise you will find that fairly quickly mould will now start to grow on all the surfaces. A dilute solution of Milton or anti bac wipes will work but you need to get the interior dry first.

I THINK THE NOVELTY OF OWNING AN MX5 IN THE WINTER IN THE UK IS WEARING OFF
sorry caps lock was on… did enjoy driving around town with the top down, but in the long term may have to buy something more practical or sensible… are all these problems fixed on later models?? in preparation of anticipated failure I now have in stock a clutch kit a low mileage diff and a 40k used starter motor. would also like to check and replace any badly worn linkage bushings… who sells the best kits for mk3 front back drop link seals… any budding enthusiast want a winter project… oh the paintwork needs restoring and there is damage on 3 corners. oh the joys of being an amateur enthusiast…

In the past I’ve dried out a car interior by leaving a small dehumidifier running for several hours with doors and windows shut.
