I’ve just joined the forum, and was hoping someone could give me some advice on replacing my old worn out vinyl roof on my MK2.5.
Can anyone recommend any fitters in the Surrey area where I can buy a replacement top and get it fitted at the same time.

I’ve done a fair bit of research on this recently. Have a look at www.carhood.com Based on Leatherhead Road, Chessington, just off Junction 9 M25. They have a deal on at the moment on Mk2 Mohair roof £475 all in. Vinyl is obviously cheaper. Have mine booked in in three weeks time. No money up front and you can see the quality of them before you commit. Very helpful and seemed to know what they were talking about.
These guys have a local fitting service for most of the UK, I know the owner and he has a very good reputation
I’m aiming to have my wet knee hood replaced, within the next month. Since we’re in the Isle of Man, Knutsford is one of my candidates but I haven’t seen any of their hoods and the photographs aren’t very revealing.
Has anyone used this source and, if so, any comments on whether the hood sides overlap the side window tops, to give decent protection against ingress of rain?

Thanks for the replies. I have spoken to carhood.com and they do seem to be pretty reputable - so I am strongly tempted to use them. What I didn’t realise when speaking to them is that when replacing a hood it is only the material and window which is changed - all other elements are re-used including the ‘skeleton’, rubber seals around the windows, soft top locking latches etc.
Is this normal pratice?
There is also a place based in Oxted Surrey called the ‘European Trimming Company’ who seemed quite reasonable as well. Anyone had any experience with them?
