Can anyone tell me the steering wheel nut size for a Mk1 Eunos? My socket set only goes up to 18mm and its not big enough. I will have to go and buy a socket (I need to strip down the combo switch as I suspect that it is the cause of my windscreen washer not working).
Thanks in advance!
21mm, there’s an article in the August 2008 edition of STHT
21mm is a common size for wheel nuts too - you may have a wheel brace thingy laying around or in another car that is the right size (I think MX5s are 19mm, but my MR2 was 21mm) which will save you the hassle of buying a new socket.
Another tip to save you a shed load of money! Only undo the nut a couple of turns before you attempt to pull the wheel off, sometimes they let go with a hell of a rush and you end up with a mouthful of steering wheel. Oh yes the money saver…you don’t have to pay the dentist a fortune to fix your front teeth[;)]
Managed to get the nut off Geoff but didn’t have to contribute to the dentists Porsche fund. It was impossible to remove the wheel by yanking it! Even a rudimentary puller I rigged up with some rope and the jack didn’t budge it. I had to resort to buying a 3 leg puller (pull the other one?) which worked a treat.
Removed the combi switch, stripped it down and cleaned it and now everything works perfectly again i.e. the washers soaked me the first time I tested them because the roof was down! ha ha
Actually you’ve reminded me that I need to strip my combi switch too. Occasionaly when I signal left my head lights pop up, so I guess somethings loose/worn in there.
