Just removed the air filter for the first time and it looks nothing like any filter I’ve seen before.
Anyone seen these before?
Looks like a Pipercross filter to me.

Yep that’s a Pipercross. I have one in my ND, and fitted one in the NC2 before it.
Give it a vacuum over and return. And a vac round the airbox enclosure while you’re there👍🏼
They give you stickers in the box, so not sure why they haven’t been used. To try and avoid an errant garage binning it and replacing with a std paper filter!
Interesting to know if you saw any performance improvement
There is a cleaning kit for them, you wash them and re-treat them
Yes, there is one available - the C9005 kit I think it is.
Although I must say in 20+ yrs of using their filters, I’ve never got one dirty enough to warrant it! Just a dry vac once a year sorts them for me.
Depends on your usage and annual mileage perhaps.
