Woke up to a dry sunny morning so decided to head out over the Trough of Bowland.
Lesson learned, definitely need to raise the suspension by 10mm … sitting this low doesn’t suit the Lancashire roads !!
Still, even tentative progress over the lanes is fun , if not a bit nerve wracking waiting for the next dip to crawl through to save the underside of the car was enjoyable.
The Inn at Whitewell is very nice … I know what you mean about the road traffic though, it used to be our “ shakedown “ road for setting up the night rally cars
Really nice roads up there; I’m not jealous at all.
I just found out, that suspension too low is no good come MOT time either!
The brake test rollers are usually below the surface and if there’s a chance the front bumper will scrape the floor, they refuse to do it.
There is another kind of test that can be done, but at least round my way, the testers aren’t keen on doing it; (they place a gizmo on the passenger seat and take the car out for a brake test; I forget what the test is called.).
It’s called a Tarperly metre, basically it recognises how quickly the brake retardant speed. It’s quite an old method, but still viable in some instances.
The roads around there have stunning views, but they are in such poor condition. I’ve tried in my lowered Golf on coilovers and my stock MX-5 and neither was great!
