It actually passed the MOT one year, but the same garage failed it the next year and addressed the fail form to FRED FLINTSTONE !!!

If my memory serves me correctly, the floor of my MG was plywood! I had ‘patched up’ the various holes that had appeared with whatever came to hand (a biscuit tin lid comes to mind) but the MOT Tester wasn’t impressed!
We all know how important it is to keep the hood drains clear on MX5, but try keeping an MG of that age water free with just the hood; and the vision from the yellowed with age side screens and rear ‘window’ (although imparting a wonderful mellow glow of the outside world) would hardly be conducive to modern day driving.
No wonder I learnt ’ topless was best’ at an early age

Grrr - had a senior moment yesterday.
Parked at Brands, locked the cabin, opened the boot, took out helmet & clipboard and spent a long day being driven round Brands in an M3.
Finished at 8pm, went back to the 5… and can’t find the keys, which also include my house key…
Spent ages searching pockets, M3s and singleseaters, pit garages and pitlane for the blighters - nothing.
Give up and phone for girlfriend to come out with her house key so I can at least get back home and in without smashing a window.
Then the great guys in the track workshop come with a professional kit for breaking into cars (don’t ask) and manage to open the cabin, can then open boot and voila - there are the blinkin’ things lying in the bottom of my holdall.
How the heck I managed to do that I’ll never know, so although resolved for now, I’m going to have to watch out and try and avoid such stupid actions in future.
I hate getting old!!

We will still love you old or not, think you will not be the last to do this, very easy to lock things in the car, I even managed to lock Martyn in at an event, and the alarms and everything blaring, it is the standing joke with everyone like you say senior moments eh

You talk about having senior moments. I’m wondering if I qualify to join this clan. When setting up my profile and came to insert my birthday I couldn’t figure out how to do it other than clicking on the calender until I reached the right month and year. I had visions of these old Gits sitting there clicking their mouse several hundreds of times to do this. Thinking they must be barking mad and hadn’t they got anything better to do.
Its not them it’s me. Have now got it sorted LOL
Oh yes think you qualify but you’ll have to get the OK from Flea (YES HE’S BACK ) or NickGun’cos they are real TOP Old Gits and barking mad. We’ve spent over 2 years trying to get a profile picture on but have failed miserably, flaming computers, we’re too old to understand the blinking things. Spent many an evening about to throw laptop out of window but that would cost money to have the window repaired. Good you sorted your problem any tips for these Old Gits

I think you definitely need to get out as you say. Forecast for tomorrow looks like showers about lunch time, but that can change. We also could do with a run, last time was a couple of weeks ago, but I don’t think that will till monday. Painting the house at the moment

Hi English - sorry to hear about your loss - sadly amongst us old gits it seems to be an increasing item of conversation. On a good note it’s great to see how the forum members respond - do as they suggest and go and have a mental clearout with the “5”!
At my advanced years I have spent the last three days taking an expensive, thickish, liquid (emulsion paint) out of a can and spreading it on our bathroom walls - is this really how the highest form of life on our planet is supposed to live especially as I really wanted to do the antifreeze on my series 2? Grumble, grumble
PS Is Painton in England - it sounds a bit forin?.

Hope you bought your paint from B&Q they were doing a 3-4-2 deal . didnt know this until we had paid the bill. so took it all back and got an extra couple of cans and with my old git discount saved £50 lol
