It is all very well congratulating Kev but has he organised the official ER do or will the official ER do emerge at a later date? That is a point that is extremely unclear.
Having attended and contributed on a number of accasions to ER Christmas functions from the Pettistree days onwards I would like to know exactly what I am signing up for - Jamie???
My understanding, (for what it is worth,) is that the official ER xmas do is still awaiting confirmation. As one of the members who was asked to ‘canvas’ opinion on this matter, I wrote the original post asking members to express their preferences. Robbie then kindly set up the voting option, and co-ordinators were encouraged to discuss at the various meetings. I know some of us then contacted hotels (25 in total,) and Jamie created a rather impressive spreadsheet detailing costs, facilities etc. An option of Newmarket was then proposed, awaiting feedback. Which is, I guess what this is all about?
In the meantime, some of us at the Tasburgh meet discussed the Delia do at the football ground, and thought this sounded like fun. In true ER spirit, we did not want to set up an exclusive ‘clique’ so Kevin wrote the post detailing the event, so it would be open to those who want to join. I don’t think this has ever been presented as ‘the’ ER xmas event? It was certainly not the intention. It is however, a social gathering available to anyone who wants to attend. I imagine, a decision will be made soon on the official xmas event and no doubt a post will be written? Hope that helps to clarify, at least my perception of the situation? 
Who said you are signing up for anything Chris? reading the whole thread should leave you with no doubt as to the status of the ER Christmas celebrations, Jude has hit the nail on the head…
Firstly there was unrest after the last Ufford park celebration, no bar staff and the feeling we were being taken for granted, add to this it also hardly central to the region (as explained a mute point in my opinion)
Gary Smith and Jude then kindly volunteered to approach some hotels and see what else was on offer, I also had a spare afternoon so contact a large number myself.
The results where then collated into a spreadsheet, and most surprising was the fact that in June we had already missed the boat and many where already booked, a large number did not even reply, to cut the story short i have asked for feedback on a hotel in Newmarket, that to date, no-one has been able to give me, I doubt you would want me to book this without some background resech into the venue…
So this brings us back to Kev who very kindly offered to organise the delia thing as an “add on”, another point explained clearly earlier.
I would very much like a reply to my earlier question to you Chris, what exaclty is it you want to keep out of?
This statement makes this discussion thread sound like some sort of argument or something? whatever gave you that idea? It is simply a way of discussing things going forward, Isn’t that the point of a forum? Open disussion? I am sure should anybody come forward to organise the official ER Christmas celebration and the wine starts to flow this will all be forgot abou, you would have to look back through some members previous posts to see there were ever any problem.

I was at that
point confused, if I added my name (ie signed up) to an event
at Norwich would there be another
better placed event the following week, as I would only attend one, finances
permitting that would muddy up available
places for others, hence why I would
have thought it would all come through
official Co-ordinator channels?

Chris and anybody else for that matter please feel free to enquire at any hotel you like, the more the better, please add any details to this thread.
I would check the small print though, those solicitors charge a fortune for reading that.

Chris is indeed travelling out of the shire of Suffolk for the first time in 10 days so willl have a look at Bury on his way.
