THERMOSTAT SWITCH PLUG

The wire that goes into the plug, on the top of the switch which in turn is on the thermostat, has broken off level with the top of the plug. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a new plug with a length of wire protruding from the plug so that the wire ca be spliced or joined with an electrical connector.

Problem sorted temporarily, by using a female part of an electrical spade type connector. When the plug is removed there is a pin in the centre of the socket. With one of the the circular ends of the connector squeezed up a bit tighter it fits tightly onto the this central pin in the socket, . The other end is crimped around the broken electrical wire. A little insulation tape holds it in place until I can source a new plug. Tested with engine up to temperature and the fan now works again.

To fix this problem more permanently I managed to get hold of a very small female spade connector, that did not need any trimming. To be able to use the “old” plug I removed, with a dremmel tool, the inside of the plug to make room for the new connection. I slipped the “old”  plug over the wire then the spade insulator and then soldered the wire to the female spade connector. I then pushed the connector onto the “spade” in the socket, covered it with the insulator, with the plug finally snapping into place. This works fine now and it is impossible to see that it has been repaired.
