This has not been a good start to MX5 ownership

After a few years of Corvette ownership I have returned to the MX5 fold. Bought a car from the UK rather than from Japan . On tuesday got my 1999 from the garage only to find out today that the car had no tax. A rush to the post office and a further £101 to tax for 6 months ( the Corvette was cheaper ) Anyway while sitting in the car park someone reverses into the front of the car. A visit to the panel beater reveals a bill of £321 just to fix the damaged paintwork. Hopefully the insurance will pay for it and hopefully I will have a bit of better luck with the car.

Sorry to hear of your woes, hope they got a lesson in driving and using Eyesight from you [;)] hope the car gets sorted asap for you.  then the smiles will return… especially when you go to the filling station [:D] over the Vette.

Nice looking car though, the Mk2 is getting better in my eyes every time I see one.

ouch, sorry about the crash !  did a dealer let you drive a car off his forecourt with no road tax ?  surely they shouldn’t do that ?

Certainly not a good start, but, in theory at least, it should only get better.

Likewise I am surprised that a dealer let a car leave their forecourt without tax on it - poor show - dealers could make a big difference to the number of uninsured cars out there if they made a point of taxing them. (On the basis that you need insurance to tax)

G’day mate, Welcome to the Forum

Bad start, but a bright future ahead…enjoy
