This Mk 3.75 doesn't look right!

Wouldn’t be surprising at all if it still had the ‘Ohlins’ on it… From experience, no Ohlins product I have experience with last more than a few years without needing a rebuild.

Its a stick on spoiler. From what I saw on the orange cars, the stick on spoilers weren’t really sticking on. Probably more trouble than what it was worth; get out a heat gun, and get rid of.

Though rebuilding an Ohlins is cheaper than a standard shock. In any case, MX5 owners need to start considering replacing shocks at 60-70k. They may not be leaking, but they are starting to go off. Bilsteins last longer; Krupps reckon they are still at 90% of new performance after 200k kms, provided there is no external damage.

Just thought I should hi-jack this post as I purchased this car and collected it on Friday, I’m in the motor trade so I should be able to spot a mongrel when I see one lol.

I have to agree the specification did have me confused but it was also the reason I wanted it, the Recaro’s may have some wear but nothing that isn’t easily repairable and they are much nicer than the standard seats (I dont really like full leather either). Its back on Bilstein shocks but I’m probably going to replace them with some coilovers anyway, nothing suggests its had any accident repair work so maybe Jota just wanted to keep the diffuser and spoiler?? I do agree its probably been driven hard but to be honest modern cars are pretty well built and at least it was modified by professionals and not some cowboys who dont know what there doing. The service history is fine so nothing to worry about there and other than all the wheels needing a refurb (i’ll probably replace them anyway) the condition looks right for a 45k car.

I’ve been to my local Mazda Dealer and it looks like the seats were on it from the factory which doesnt make any sense, the 1st owner is Mazda Motors UK Ltd according to the V5, so maybe someone pulled some strings at the factory to get them fitted. They also have both colours listed which means it may have been like this from day one, I also wondered if this was one of the first 2013MY Mk3.75 cars as it was registered late December 2012?

Hopefully i’ll have many years of enjoyment from it and you’ll be pleased to know i didnt pay anywhere near his asking price lol.

Congrats on your purchase!  I was going to take a look at it but I just didn’t have time.

I made time to go and see the BBR GTI one on monday but wasn’t impressed with the condition.

It’s seems to be my luck with finding another MX5 for me…

I Snooze… I loose!

Enjoy it!

PS: Out of curiousity what did you pay for it?  PM me if you don’t want to share publically.

Well you can’t say you haven’t got an interesting car with a bit of interesting history behind it. May have had a hard early life but as you say it’s probably not going to be a big issue. Shame the spoiler and diffuser aren’t available would have been nice to see them go back on the car. The seats are the big deal they are really expensive additions. Shame they only ever made it onto a handful of Jota’s and around 50 Recaro editions. I’d guess it was ordered from the factory pretty much as she is now, in the two colours and with the seats, ready for the Jota conversion.

Really Hope she turns out to be a good buy.

I would have thought the major modifications are the engine/suspension package, both of which are now gone. The rest is mere frippery.

I agree it would be nice to return it to the original spec, I have emailed Jota Sport but I’m not expecting any joy.

I’ll keep you updated if anything happens ??

I’d be surprised if you got any joy from Jota but you never know unless you ask.

If they could you supply you with any of the bespoke items be they mechanical or cosmetic, that appear to be basically unobtainable elsewhere, that would be great.

Good luck.
