Tom Tom Sat Nav doesn't know it's position

You can reset the device by pressing and continue to hold the power button for 20 to 30 seconds with the ignition switched ON, your device will restart - you should see the egg timer. When your device begins to restart, release the power button

Second method is to cleanly eject the SD card, switch off ignition, wait 30 seconds, restart the unit (turn ignition on) and when the device has started reinsert the SDcard.

Do you regularly update your sdcard (via tomtom Home2 in a PC) and in particular update with QUICKGPSFIX - there seems to be an updated one every week from Tomtom!!

TomTom’s “QUICKGPSFIX” is indeed updated every few days - but you don’t need it at all if the GPS receiver in your satnav is allowed to acquire a fresh copy of the almanac by simply being powered up with a view of the sky for 30 minutes or so.
