Got a 10 year old mk2 with a little rust on the inside of the boot lid. What’s the easiest / best way of treating it? I’m thinking of going down to Halfords and buying something to rub it down and then spray on some primer - does that sound ok?
If possible grind the effected area back until you have removed the rust then prime and paint etc. If this is not possible you need to wire brush the area where the rust us then treat it with a propriety rust inhibitor before priming and painting. If you just prime and paint on top of rust it will continue to corrode.
