Trim springs with standard shocks

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience of running MXPart’s Trim Springs with standard socks (in reasonable working condition)?

I’m a little concerned that as these springs are a bit stiffer than stock, the shocks might not be able to cope.

Cheers.

No problems chap, had run them on mine for a while until the front shock popped (with age).

Now I have been running on KYB AGX Adjustables with Trim Springs for just around a year, an I luv em.

1.6 Eunos Roadster fitment.

Good news; I’m not ready to fork out for new shocks just yet.

Cheers for the reply.

Update:

After fitting the trim springs, I find the standard shocks unable to cope with the increased spring rate.  In my layman’s opinion, they’re unable to control the rebound of the stiffer springs.  Still feels better (taughter) than the stock setup, but bumpy roads are driven with a bit more caution.

I found exactly the same thing, but then my shocks had done 130,000 miles.

Hi Pete,

Out of interest, what did you replace them with - assuming you replaced them?

I replaced them with a secondhand set of coilovers from ebay, but I’m not happy with them (too low and too harsh).  Now I’m thinking of going back to standard.

The KYB AGX Adjustables with Trim Springs from MX5 Parts are great on my Eunos 1.6.

Not to Harsh not to Soft and a good buy I am still very happy with this setup…
