So long as you have matching pairs on the same axle. Ideally you want to have the same four tyres all round but it’ll be fine with the tyres you’ve got on at the moment.
Oh OK - thought you might have been saying that the tread had worn a lot after 7K miles or that there was still loads left after 7K miles. My misunderstanding.
Yes l understand. They are all at about the same as far as tread depth goes but I will be fitting a full set as and when.
Thanks for the info and your help.
Over the years i have found sometimes to my cost that to mix compounds of tyres can be lethal in the wet. One experience i had on a motorbike was the front end sticking to the line and the rear breaking away around a bend at 80 mph.I will never forget the experience of that.
Back to my Mx5 and after a few break aways this winter in the wet my confidence has been dented. Come spring and it is a full set of tyres for the car, better than going hedge hopping.
I’d go for Pilot Exalto IIs myself. I used to drive a Ford Puma (racing spec but not the racing model) and went from Toyo T1Rs to PE 2s, and the PE2s are much grippier and lasted another 10,000 miles too. I’ll be getting a set on my 5 as soon as the current boots need replacing
I have a set of 15s with 195 50 15 Toyo T1rs and they are great but I want to revert to 14s on a standard set of wheels but cant find T1rs in 185 60 14 or 195 60 14 .
All I can find is CF1 s are these as good in the wet or dry , I will be buying a full set and dont want to be disappointed ?
