Purchased a 1990 eunos (sorry to you purists) about 3 months ago and so far so good. However, I have a button to the right of the steering wheel that I have no idea what it does. It doesn’t apear to be an original feature and at first i thought it might be a burglar deterant as when you press it a small red light apears. This however, goes out when you turn the ignition off. It also only seems to light up when the lights have been activated but i can see no difference to the lights when i press the button.
I’ll try and get a picture, there is a factory fitted fog switch next to it so not sure about the fog switch thingy.
I suppose I shouldn’t apologies for the eunos…but I have read lots on the internet and MX5 owners and I get the feeling that imports are viewed as a bad smell.
I certainly hope that you won’t find that attitude in the Owners Club. A hell of a lot of staunch club members own Roadsters, myself included, and if people make those knd of remarks to me they get a pretty stinky answer[;)]
My '93 Eunos has 3 spaces to the right of the wheel.
Nearest to the wheel is the OEM front fog lights
Middle is blank
Last one is aftermarket switch for rear fog light (mounted in high level brake light aperture in boot lid) which only comes on when the lights are ON so no apparent effect if lights NOT ON.
I was hoping it would be a switch for the rear window heater but it only seems to work when i turn the lights on so i’m thinking the fog light scenario might be the case. I’ll check this later.
The rear heater is a whole new topic. I don’t think the previous owner ever bothered connecting it up and adding a switch. And I’m about as technically minded as a bean. Is this difficult to do?
i have a button there which is to switch on the rear foglight (one of the reversing lights with a red bulb) yes i know it’s not a high intensity whatsit but it goes through mot every year so what the hell.[6]
I have to admit I prefer MK1 Eunos Roadsters to UK MX-5s - by this date they are on the whole in much better nick with far lower mileage and usually nicer spec too… who’s with me? lol
