Hi Guys
Is there a way of marking all unread posts as read. That way I can goto unread posts and show the ones since I last logged in and marked them as read.

That’s a bit of a sore point!
Neither that facility, nor (sort of related and perhaps more importantly) the facility to jump to the most recent unread post in a topic (instead of only the very first or very last ones) are a feature of this forum software. But apparently the software is really good, so that’s OK then …
See here, here and here for starters …
Anyway, I’d best not open up that old can of worms again.
Hi Glen,
As Gareth said, the functionality is not there yet, but it will hopefully be something that we can get sorted quite soon - it is just a case of balancing the needs of the forum, and unforunately, security updates and such are taking priority when it comes to the budget.
At the top of the ‘posts not read’ page, there is a drop down box that currently says “Show All”, you can change this to “New since last visit”, and it will behave as it would on more traditional forums.
Change to Firefox
Hi Again
I now have a strange problem with the uread posts page, in that it’s showing me 25 pages, of 4 posts per page! It’s driving me nuts, can anyone suggerst a fix? It’s happening in both Firefox and Safari.
Glen
That is strange, and not something I’ve seen before.
What happens if you click on one of the links to another page? - More of the same, or does it then work?
What I would try would be setting something in one of the drop down boxes, and then changing it back - it might give it the kick up the butt that it needs to get itself sorted.
The only cause I can think of (and it is a bit of a long shot) is the ‘mark read’ grease monkey script is somehow confusing it - but I cannot see how.
The problem still occcurs in Safari… so cannot be a GreaseMonkey issue…
As I’m typing this I’m having issues using Quick reply, Press enter to go to new line, cursor jumps to the new line and then back to the beginning of my quick reply. WHY?
I am starting to get slightly annoyed, and it’s a shame, I joined over a week ago, have met loads of lovely people, love STHT, looking forward to going to the Fish & Chip run etc, however the forum is supposed to be the point of contact for memebers…
There seems to be a lot of posts about issues, and I for one have spent lots of time on motoring related forums, and I have yet to find one as buggy as this.
Come on MX5OC, sort it out, this is not a pleasant experience for a new member.
Glen
With grease monkey, I’m thinking that it might have caused incomplete or corrupt database entries, perhaps as a result of a mechanism to prevent DoS attacks - but I don’t know, that’s just an educated guess.
I wish that I could just press a button, and sort everything that is wrong with the forum, and indeed the world, but the issue is that I, along with Martin, Geoff, and every other mod/admin are not employed by the club - we are volunteers who do what we can in our spare time.
If you had joined 4 months ago, you’d be able to look back at a lot of problems that have been sorted, but as you point out, there are some outstanding.
I’ve got about 16 hours worth of work sitting in the hands of the developers just now, but due to the budget available, we literally cannot afford to ask for them to implement them just now, because there are bigger issues (such as security updates) that take precedence.
Things are settling down, and most users are getting on OK, but some still have issues. Hopefully in a couple of months, you will also be able to see a lot of them gone.
