vented headlight, left or right

I’ve just looked at the mx5parts site, looking to buy a vented headlight cover, it asks do i want left or right side. i want the cover on the left, looking from the rear of the car, they dont explain from which end they are looking at it. anybody bought one and can say which is which, thanks

Normally left is as when you sit in the car, IE nearside is left, and offside is right, I think.[:)]

Hi Paul,

The above is correct. As you sit in a UK or Japanese car, the driver sits on the right, and as the kerb is furthest away from the driver on British and Japanese roads, i.e nearer to the left side of the car than the right(driver) side, this is known as the nearside. The offside then, must be the side of the car furthest away from the kerb, in this case the right hand side where the driver sits.

thanks for the replies folks, i agree hovis, there are some good ideas there. i’m particularly taken with the ashtray/storage conversion.

I spotted a left hand cover on e bay,(wrong colour,typical), that’s the side i need so i took the plunge and ordered it, if it’s wrong it goes back, no problem
