Hello,
I need to waxoyl the washer bottle hanger on my 5 to stop it completely corroding like the old one i replaced(which was a nightmare!). The thing is there seems to be around 500 variants of the stuff; there’s an aerosol. A brush on type. A spray gun attachment. Refill cans. If i wanted to waxoyl my grundies there would probably be a variety for that too. So the question is which one do i choose?
Any help much appreciated,
Muchos gracias,
Ben
Hi
There are lots of things which may be better than waxoyl (eg Dinitrol), but they are not as readily available.
I have found the standard ‘clear’ type to do a perfectly good job. The best way I have found to apply it is to tip it into a large jam jar, and then brush it on. You can use the cheap paintbrushes from Poundland, it’s much more economical than spraying, gets good penetration on seams, and is tidy on visible surfaces. You still need to spray box sections, and for these it may be worth tracking down the better makes. If it’s too thick just stand the tin or jar in warm water for a while.
I expect others to have different preferences, but the paint on method works for me,
Regards
Paul
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your help
I have decided to go with the good old paintbrush method as this way i can do a neater job as i don’t want to have to start masking loads of areas off just to use an aerosol!
Cheers
