Todays mini project fixes my phone being too big for the cubby in front of the gearstick.
Today Sabine got a new mohair hood. The previous vinyl was in fairly good nick - apart from the massive split in the plastic window I managed to put in it on a cold afternoon. Opted to have an NB frame put in on the advice of Colin and Kevin who arranged/done the fitting for us. New hood is from All Hoods. Really pleased with it. Fits really well, feels and looks lovely. Very friendly customer service as well. Thoroughly recommend the gentlemen at JRD Motors in Peebles (Scottish Borders) who arranged the NB frame for me and done the fitting. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Wee before (complete with gaffa tape) and after pics…
Ooh, that looks nice.
What prompted the change from vinyl to mohair?
Mostly we just preferred the look of the mohair. The other thing was we really wanted a glass window because the plastic bendy window is pretty hard to see out of. Seeing as it wasn’t a huge bump from glass with vinyl to glass with mohair we thought we would go the whole hog
We reckon that the mohair gives a nicer fit as well. The vinyl always seemed to need stretched and was usually a bit of a struggle.
Certainly looks good
The rust being orange and pitted is…odd. Did the same thing to mine a few weeks ago but as it was aluminium it was just white surface oxidisation
That’s a very good point!
One of you has a PRHT ?
…which after googling it, has a steel boot lid.
Every day is a school day, had no idea they used steel on the PRHT versions!
Had the car a week so today fitted the correct roll hoop covers that I did in soul red. After the mistake of buying some second hand ones from an RF and after painting them finding they didn’t fit😭
So that’s a stubby aerial and mud flaps front and back am pleased and it feels “mine” after a couple of little mods
All set for another road trip in 5Red.
New OEM stock expansion tank, grommets changed, alloys sorted, air in the the tyres and added some air to the horn !!
Continuing updates and repairs… brought car up to the 21st century as such with LED lights and a Bluetooth stereo with phone capability. Cost less than £80 but more impressive than the Bose it replaced. Just waiting for a patch cable to fully fit. 8 colours to choose from
I know it’s not flashy like some radios but I’ve always struggled to see a full display with the roof down
think i’d move
Fitted some SkidNation Delrin Door Bushes from BOFI Racing and some Ohlins stickers. Not sure if it was the bushes or the stickers but Tizzy feels so much more planted now.
It was the stickers for sure
Out of interest, how long did it take you to fit the door bushings?
Cheers,
Guy
10 Minutes a door. Passenger side is a litte tight so I might file it down a smidgen. But fine for the moment and may even just wear itself in.
Good to know thanks.
All joking aside, would you say there is a tangible difference after fitting these to the way your car felt before?
Edit* Also, what made you choose this particular brand?
I haven’t taken Tizzy out for a good shakedown since fitting, but I don’t expect to notice any tangible difference, since she actually does have Ohlins fitted, a Cobalt front strut brace and a full set of IL Motorsport braces underneath.
It was a reasonable price to ensure I’ve done as much as I can to ensure the chassis is as stiff as possible.
