Continuing the discussion from What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2):

The guy who did mine used Synergy 2 Infinity Wax. The major part of the process was cleaning and preparation prior to applying the ceramic coating. The whole process took around 4 hours.

Out of curiosity, which manifold did you fit ?

MX-5 Mk3 Malian Unequal Length Tubular Exhaust Manifold (NC) MX5 Mk3 Malian Unequal Length Tubular Exhaust Manifold (NC)

The main problem is because the piping is so much higher than factory, the stock heat shield won’t fit.

How do you like the sound?

Replaced the small cubby hole cover and made my car its unique ID tag which will live in said cubby storage - good fit. The wood comes from Hiroshima and I lasered the graphics/text.

On throttle it’s far more to my taste. Much louder ofc, but you get that Scooby burble.

Off throttle, people who know it’s an inline 4 ask if it’s misfiring.

I’ve got the same manifold on my car. Absolutely love it! Makes the car sound a lot more ‘exotic’ haha. What are you using for the rest of the system? I found the standard silencer extremely quiet even with the decat manifold so went with a aftermarket one.

“exotic” is the word.

I have the cobalt back box as mine is a daily. Better than stock without being droney.

I had to get the stock mid-pipe repaired behind the second cat though. The rear weld on the resonator sheared entirely. I think the repair section actually made it a bit quieter.

This is as the repair was getting fitted:

Decided on my New wheels/ tyres to fit will be 215/35/17 or 215/40/17 low profile they are :-

Konig Ampliform 17x8 4x100 ET45 Bronze Wheels

I’ve decided on these wheels too. They look fab.

What tyres did you go for?

225/45R17 seems to be a good size option.

Did you fit new TPMS too?

If the TPMS valves are old, replace them.

Published life expectancy for their batteries is about ten years.

Fitted the Jass Performance seat lowering brackets for my passenger seat ready for Blyton Park next weekend. I’ve had the drivers side in for a couple years which have been great.

Would love to do this…but worried about making a mess of it and releasing the ball bearings in the seat rail. I need reassurance!!

yes fitted new TPMS had an issue with the ones from R.B Europe they sent the wrong ones  money and time wasted  so I suggest if you go for them get them from Mazda parts with discount  I also went with 215/45/17 I think going for 215/40 or 35 will make for a more harsh Ride… but the choice is yours …!

I left the seats on the rails rather than removing like the instructions said and it worked fine. The main issue is drilling out the old rivets which proved challenging…
