Great camera! I’ve an old D40 with a 200VR zoom which I bought off eBay, many many years ago. Still very useful, although so very heavy compared to a mobile phone- and of course much harder to share photos.

I have always wanted to go to Japan, is it as horribly expensive as i have heard?

Not at the moment! I exchanged 195 yen to the pound. Internal flight from Sendai to Itami was 37 pounds, Nanki-Shirahama to Haneda, 90 pounds. Shinkansen would have taken 4-5 hours and around 160 -180 pounds!
