Your car has a timing chain, not a cambelt. These last (in theory) for the life of the car unless they start getting noisy then it’s usually the guides/tensioners that need replacing.
Thanks very much for your prompt reply Carl. My 2007 MX-5 has only done 46,004 miles and is going in for it’s MOT tomorrow. It has sailed through every year since I purchased it in 2007. I was told by a friend that it should have the campbell changed every 6 years!
Yes they are probably referring to the earlier cars, 1989 - 2005 used cambelts. Your car doesn’t have one.
