Where have you been in your MX-5 today?

Tuesday, two events - MOT and my birthday. When I booked it (the MOT not the birthday) the weather forecast was sunny, on the day it was dull and drizzle! Had to wash and dry the car when I got home before putting it away in the dry.
Then had to entertain 3 - or was it 5? - grandchildren who all came round for cake after school. Still got some decent aftershave and a Greggs voucher so not too bad ! (The 5 passed with no advisories)

That is a quote from Radio 4 Week Ending about 40 years ago!!!

We remember stuff like that from 40 years ago but can’t remember why we went in the kitchen.

The weather here in Lincolnshire was good today so decided to make the most of it and went for a bimble across the Wolds and beyond. 106miles or thereabouts. Largely quiet, country roads in the sunshine. Took in the road between Bardney and Baumber with it’s lovely twisty stretches, the undulating Caistor high street and Bluestone heath roads over the spine of the Wolds then back to Lincoln via Spilsby, Coningsby and the little cut through of Bloxholm lane near the village of Scopwick.
Very enjoyable but surprisingly, zero MX-5s spotted. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Great roads, bardney through to horsington then horncastle is a bit better than the baumber one imo, learnt to drive on that, just love all the differnt types of bends.

Milford-on-Sea. Looking out over the Solent Approaches, to the western end of the Isle of Wight on a gloriously sunny day.

A few weeks ago the car park would have been packed.

No pics today but had a really good drive in great October weather - Across to Kelso in the Scottish Borders and down the A7 to join the M6 for Penrith then off to Melmerby for lunch and over Hartside to Alston and on towards Hexham. Up the A68 to Jedburgh then back home via Kelso/Coldstream. Seemed to be an ‘Orange day’ today with our own 30AE plus an orange Lotus Elise near Kelso, an orange wrapped Lamborghini Aventador in Melmerby followed by another orange Elise in Alston then yet another orange Elise in Coldstream (definitely no duplicates). Also A few MX5s including a grey ND parked near the top of Hartside that gave an enthusiastic wave. Possibly our last Hartside run of the year but certainly one of the most enjoyable as it was particularly empty of traffic today.

Ah yes, Bucknall bends. Another super stretch of road and very popular with the two wheel brigade for good reason. Thimbleby with all of the thatched cottages is a lovely village towards the end of that run.
We are lucky to have quite a few roads locally that are enjoyable and largely quiet.

Oh my. How I wish I’d been in the Mazda when we stayed in that part of the world earlier this year. Fabulous driving roads with magnificent scenery. I confess I’m moderately jealous. Glad you had a great drive. Btw, is your avatar Jim Clark’s Lotus from the museum in Duns?
