Where have you been in your MX-5 today?

Well we had some snow last night but suddenly in the morning the weather changed and got warmer. It started raining and pretty much within a few hours the roads were cleared so…

I went for a drive…

To the local garage which has done both our 5s for 16 years.
Extremely let down with so called Mazda reliability.
2002 Sport need it’s original :frowning_with_open_mouth: Panasonic renewed.
Utter disgrace.
Letters to Mazda UK & Guardian on it’s way.

Apparently the ND2s with stop/start technology are starting to need new batteries already. My ND1 is still on the original at 7+ years. Even when it was stood unused for six months and was totally flat an overnight charge brought it back to life and it’s been fine ever since.

Might be worth also venting your anger to Panasonic directly.

You’re really unlucky  My 2000 reg 1.8i sport still has original battery.

Damn you Sir. Damn you.
You man will meet my man of tomorrow at dawn with charged pistols.
You must be a cheat & an utter charlatan.

:crossed_swords: As I’m a gentleman. :crossed_swords:

Sadly no pics from the trip due to problems with my tech at home…!

Christmas Day saw my ND go from North Nottinghamshire down to Milton Keynes, taking me to my family Christmas… On Boxing Day it ventured across Buckinghamshire into Oxfordshire allowing me to see a friend I hadn’t seen in ages… 2 days and 5 counties, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Nothamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire… The ND’s busiest day yet…! and thankfully no salt on any of the roads :+1:

East Midlands Airport, at the top of Castle Donington hill, to get a glimpse of the lucky people going on holiday…

Before the year runs out I thought one last adventure ‘Madges Midwinter RNLI Charity Tour’, see gofundme under that name, turned up at Lowestoft Tesco’s, Pump 5 of course, to refuel for a 488 mile run from lo Lowestoft Ness to Lands End.

Looks like I picked a great day for it weather wise.

Another wet weather drive here.

From Dorking to Bracknell, for my final day in my Waitrose head office role.

At least there’s underground parking to let the SE dry out…

I wouldn’t normally recommend an 11 hour 500 mile topless journey with just two stops but what with the first the weather being against me and then the ridiculous amount of traffic I just smiled and got in the mood and got it done somewhat slower than intended, next time I try this, and I will, I’ll make sure there is no seasonal traffic to fight.

07:30 Lowestoft Ness mission to get topless to Lands End without using motorways before dusk accepted.

13:00 Esso Hazelwood Svcs Survived the worst of the storm topless but huge tailback from the Stonehenge round about on the A303 leads to massive diversion through Salisbury and I am now running late.

16:30 Carnwall Serviices A30 Further diversions off the A303 through Yarcombe mean I am 47 miles short of my destination at dusk. Celebrate with a Co op Apple Crown and decide to finish the job with a view to doing the whole thing again at some point in the not to distant future maybe a mid summer night run from Lands End to Lowestoft Ness.

18:30 delighted to arrive at Lands End safe and sound and with £170 already raised of £250 target for RNLI. See gofundme.com ‘Madges Midwinter RNLI Charity Tour’. Thanks to everyone who donated, Tomorrow The Lizard to Torquay via 3 ferries should be fun.

The day following my previous post I had great fun taking the four ferries between The Lizard and Torquay …

King Harry Ferry …

Bodinnick Ferry …

Torpoint Ferry…

and Higher Dartmouth Ferry.

Nice to see a 5 getting a good and proper dirt run-out instead of lurking unseen in a lock up with 9 coats of Carnuba.
Nice to have a bacon butty and tea back home while the Long Haired One is pressed into cleaning it?

Taxi… :taxi:

Managed a top-down run out to a pub for lunch yesterday.
Today it’s back to work for me and my MX-5.
Motorway in the rain and dark. Hood up obvs!

My brand new (to me!) NC up at Goodwood the other night - already having great fun waving at every single MX-5 I pass

Going nowhere fast at the moment - waiting for new calipers, replacement spring then MOT. Wish me luck

MOT and rolled over 90,000 on the clock. Advisories on rear coils but no drama. Can start planning her 21st birthday party now!

I’m on the other side of the continent, so while I’m away, my friend’s keeping my car busy out in the fun bits.
