Up to the Forest of Bowland for the weekend. This was taken at Beacon Fell Country Park.

Accompanied by a rather loud return home! I presume this is the ‘usual’ place the midpipe fails on the Mk3?! I’ll see if I can get it welded up locally.

They do a repair section for that, cut in the appropriate place and bolt up…

Yep saw that Mick. It’s also more expensive via MX5 Parts than it is direct. Just wasn’t sure if it was better replacing or simply re-welding.

The rest of it looks in fine condition. Just looks like that join hasn’t been designed particularly well. There again, this is a Sept 2009 example on 88k miles, so perhaps that’s not bad going!

Yep, going back many years now exhausts used to rust for fun or the baffles used to rattle and fall apart in silencers. For a good few years now they are made of sterner stuff, my last NC exhaust was original at nearly 14 years old when sold.
I had a VW beetle and it required an exhaust almost every year, poor quality steel replacements I guess but easy and cheap to replace on those.

MX-5 City have the same section @£70, or this below may work…

Thanks to Chris Nickless for organising another superb Retyred lunch meeting at the Six Bells in Boreham for the North Thames group yesterday.

Diddly Squat. Parked next to a nice, what looked like a UK spec NA.

Followed by a night at “James May’s” pub (photo taken complete with road trip dirt).

Not today, but yesterday evening had a run along the M4 to Bath to celebrate a friend’s 60th birthday. Lovely quiet run back late last night

Did a little reconnoitre of a scenic route from Cribbs Causeway to Frogsmill Inn in anticipation of a Friends with 5’s gathering next weekend. Shame weather could make it’s mind up managed to get to Cribbs before I gave up the struggle with the roof down. Dried out as I got back to London.
