Where have you been in your MX-5 today?

Nowhere today as my wife’s stolen my car for work while I sort the brakes on her car!

A nice run out last night from Halifax to Buckden and back.

Just had to watch her drive off in it. It looked so beautiful going down the road and my wife didn’t look to bad either!

Had one of those perfect early evening drives up into the Yorkshire Dales…
Quiet roads, hardly a car in sight, no camera vans lurking, just miles of open tarmac and those flowing, twisty B roads that seem to go on forever. The light was spot on as well, that golden hour glow over the hills… couldn’t ask for better conditions.

The car absolutely loves it up there, just settles into a rhythm, corner after corner, :ok_hand:t2:

Had a rain free day at GYG karting just West of Corwen on the A5 near Snowdonia. Averaged 42.5 mph on my best lap which feels quick when your backside is inches off the ground. Must get down to 6 stone like some of the kids who were 3 seconds a lap quicker.

I haven’t received any abuse in an MX-5, to my knowledge, but when I first had a Tesla five or so years ago, men in white vans would regularly lean out of their windows and shout and make gestures at me.

Been to Calke Abbey on the bluebell trail, parking well away from others, didn’t last long though.

I was there last week……..

A brilliant film that needs to be viewed at the cinema to get the full effects.

Netflix doesn’t do it justice.

My wife was more into Peaky Blinders, I took an interest and started watching the series. We’ve yet to watch the film (Netflix) but will soon.

Nice little bit of rhyming slang going on there. :+1:

Cockney versions are…

Dustbins……dustbin lids.

Saucepans……saucepan lids.

Friend of mine used to say it. Always made me smile.

Just had a 4 day trip to south west Scotland, stayed in Moffat and had some nice drives around the surrounding countryside.

The Mennock pass between Sanquar and Leadmills and the road alongside Meggetwater and Talla reservoir are high up on my places to visit when in this area.

Saw a large group of European registered cars near St Mary’s Loch, MX5s various Hondas etc all with their roofs down enjoying the Scottish drizzle. Also a group of British convertible sports cars, MGs, Triumphs etc near Heddon on the wall.

The MX-5 has been stuck in the garage since before Easter. School holidays here meant we had the Grandsons staying and then last weekend when they were due to leave we had our latest severe weather event so it was batten down the hatches and gather up the candles and camping stove. As it happened we were spared the bad weather, - an ex-tropical cyclone passed down the east of the country. I think that was the third one this year. Friday was a lovely day so we managed to fit in a picnic lunch at the Lagoon. Then this morning we were woken at 0600 by an incoming txt from our insurers to advise the Met Office had just issued a Red Warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy rain about to hit our region! So far we have again avoided the worst but there has been flooding and road closures just south of us. The weather is not expected to improve for at least a week so our picnic might be our only 5 experience for a while, and its not even winter yet!
