Which oils to use and how much ??

 Hi

 

I am looking at changing the fluids in my mk2.5 sport mx5 on friday but need to get the oils for the job :slight_smile:

 

The ones i want to do friday are (if i can remove all the plates from under the car )

6 speed gearbox and diff …

I dont know if its a lsd on the sport or not ??

Any one help with best stuff to put in ? and how much to buy !!

Suspect this is all in the faq somewhere, but always ready to help out a fellow 6 speed owner:

Gearbox 2 Litre oil (API GL-4 or GL5 SAE 75w90)
Sump Plug Washer, Mk1 for Gearbox drain(GBox filler is tapered plug and doesn’t need one)
Filler: 24mm    27-48Nm
Drain: 24mm    27-48Nm

 

Diff 1 Litre oil (API GL-4 or GL5 SAE 90 or same as gearbox, many people swear by Redline MTL 70W-80)
Filler: 23mm    39-54 Nm
Drain: 24mm    39-54 Nm

 I found castrol web a good source of imformation www.castrol.oil.co.uk put in your car and stuff and it  will advise what castrol oils tom use, I as you have guessed use castrol - magnitec etc for my car
