Which way up to store a hardtop

I’m want to store my NC hardtop for the summer against the wall in my shed using some blankets and those foam pipe insulation around the edges, particularly the glass. Question is it glass up or down, inside facing the wall or out?
If it’s glass down , Which makes sense due to weight, but then there’s the two chrome connectors it would be having its entire weight on. Is this okay?

The safest way is to buy a hardtop stand. It will probably cost about £100 but its a lot better than a broken rear windscreen or damaged paint. If you don’t want to use one then I’d put some blocks underneath it so that the chrome latches aren’t taking the weight and then tie it to the wall so it doesn’t fall over.
There’s a second hand stand on eBay at the moment for £50 but it’s collection only from Stourbridge.

Another one here with postage.

Thanks for these links, yes you’re right. So they tend to be stored (stand etc) glass down on pads lifted off the chrome catches?

I got one of these stands from eBay and it works fine. The latches are well above the floor and you can move the top around easily. I only store mine a few weeks for the year, though. I don’t know how this affects the structure of the top.

Yes glass down. I’ve had one for a couple of years now and no damage so far but mine is in a storage bag as well as on the stand. I got my stand from UK Custom covers.

Thanks for the tip, just purchased the custom covers stand. Do you put any extra (foam) padding on the stand apart from the cover ?

I did think about it but didn’t have any to hand so just lowered it carefully onto the stand. It’s certainly not going to do any harm putting some extra on and would be very easy to do. A bit of pipe insulation would do the job.
