White speckles on soft top latches

Not just the latches but a lot of the internal metalwork has rough speckles on them. What is the best way to remove them?
I’ve been told to remove and sand the parts then spray on black satin Hammerite. Is this the best?

its oxidization of the aluminum metal underneath. Sanding and repainting is the way to go if it bothers you enough to do so! it happens because of high humidity/damp in the car. Happened to one of mine years back when I put it in the garage wet!

Take them off sand them wuth 800s wet/dry then go finer thay come up shiny no painting required
