Window to Car door strip

Hello

I would like to re-spray the strip that goes between the door window and the door (See Pic)

Has any one done this?

Also how do you get it out?

It is held in place by some plastic clips that you can’t see, obviously but, it is made of some very soft metal/material that when you lift it out, it usually bends out of shape and believe me, it never goes back to the correct shape of the car door. Even with a new one you have to be very carefully when fitting it to the door.   Why do you want to respray it and what with?

Its not in the best of condition, I think it must have had some sort of coating on it which, in patches, has come off.<o:p></o:p>

Plus one end is really bubbled up, what I think is rust underneath the paint.<o:p></o:p>

As to what I respray it with, I thought just a black spray paint… err that a bit lame but its what I thought.<o:p></o:p>

So what your saying is don’t take it off, unless I have a new one to fit.<o:p></o:p>

 Yes but even I would think about it as they are expensive. About £40 00

Hi can I suggest an alternative, buy some self adhesive chrome strip about £9.99 from Halfords and put it on like I did as pic below and you will have some left over to put up the side of the quarter light

The chrome strip looks good

I too have a bubbly strip (oo-er, mississ *) - that looks like a crackin’ fix.
