Hi, at the weekend I found the switch for the passenger window ‘stuck’ in the up position. Suspect motor burnout…? I don’t know. When I flip the switch I can hear a click inside the door but no action…
I haven’t had much luck recently…
I’ll add it to my to-do list
But any advice welcome before I start taking the door apart…[*-)]
Sounds about right Mike… sounds like the motor - I had the same issue.
I have hard of people spraying some lubricant or cleaner on the window mechs with the door panel off but I have only known this to work for windows that are maybe slow in going up or down(usually a sign that the motor is on its way out) this can be a temporary fix but it is really common for the MK1’s now to be having challenges with the window motors.
On the 2 Mk1’s Ive had - my 1st needed the passenger side motor replaced and my current car is suffering from slow window sindrome so that will need done soon.
Similar problem here m8, except my passenger windo went down half way and then stopped. After much cajoling I managed to get it back in the “up” position. I have bought another complete window kit from a member on Ebay, as soon as it arrives I’ll fit it. I’ll then follow up with another post.
My window stoped working and there were a few problems.
The cable and broken one side and so the motor was turning nothing, Got compleat window kit to save time and get it working.
Both windowes will some time not work at the contact on the switch had gone. Cleaning got them working for a short time but replacing them was the only way to get more than a mouth of work out of them.
Oil the runners and cables. This mite have saved the cable from problem 1 and did help the window move quite a lot.
I have seen that one user change to using relays to keep the switches working for longer and the windows going up and down with more force. I have not tryed this yet.
