Wing Mirror, how do you put it together?

Hi all, not posted for a while, been a bit busy dismantling the poor girl and repairing after a rather zealous track day…

On the way home from said track day, a damned pug driver straddled the white line and kindly removed my wing mirror. I decided to go for new ones from Mx5 parts, butcouldn;t get them ready built in white, instead settling for primed. I’ve now painted them and have mostly built them, problem is i can’t see how the retaining platic ring sits on the actual unit, holding the mirror in. I assumed it would clip on the lip, but it doesn;t, and there are no instructions ( point to remember there MX5 parts). has anyone built these before or had to replace the mirror - hence taking them off ??

I’m now assuming its some sort of adhesive, but this should be interesting on how to get a tight fit and how to replace the glass if it breakes ???

 Any help gratefully recieved !

Andy

You will need to glue the black trim on, superglue does the trick. The mirrors are not, by design meant to come apart.

Superglue Gel according to the Editors note in the MX5 Parts Reviews.

cheers all

Hi Andy . I’m a new member to the MX5 club . I was adjusting my miror and it came off in my hand. (common problem apparantly)

I’ve bought a replacement bolt to re fit the mirror but I realise I need to remove the door upholstery to get to the mirror bracket. Do you know how this is done or can you point me in the direction of further advice?

Thanks

Richard

Lever up the cover on the base plate attached to the door to reveal the fasteners. No need to fish about inside the door.
