Wiper blades

I need a new pair of wiper blades, I think (mine are getting very squeaky and a little bit juddery, although they’re not actually perishing yet). I see there are a few sellers on Ebay doing the ‘aero’ style of frameless blade - this style is standard fit on my Volvo, and they’re very good (very even pressure across the area of wipe, and good when travelling at speed). Has anyone tried any of the 18" ‘aero’ ones from Ebay? Any good? Or am I better sticking with some normal Bosch ones?

I can’t remember what model you have Gareth, but if it is a MK1 or 2 (/2.5) then Mazda themselves is the best option for the passenger side at least because it is curved to suit the windscreen.

I bought both the other week, and the passenger side one is a lot better than what came off it, in terms of catching the top of the screen.

The drivers side one is good with rain, but not great when it comes to cleaning the screen (with screenwash) - it seems to miss the bottom part of the sweep - this could be because my jets aren’t spraying where they need to (though seem fine), or maybe the drivers side is just not as good.

Dealer was slightly more expensive than Bosch from Halfords, but MX5 parts do them for a better price if you can wait (which at this time of December could be a wee while).

 It’s a mk.2.
I think I see what you’re saying re. the curve of the screen. The ‘aero’ blades do have a sort of natural curve due to the nature of their construction - perhaps that would be advantageous in terms of getting a better contact with the glass across the whole width of the blade?

I’ve been a bit put off by those ones, largely due to the amount of ‘tat’ that is available for cars these days.

Part of me says ‘if they were good then Mazda (or Bosch) would make them for the car’ (even MX5 parts and what not don’t)…
