Wrong shock absorbers?

Advice please

Replacing the two rear shock absorbers on our 2012, PRHT, Venture, informed that the car was fitted with Bilstein shock absorbers, placed an order for Bilstein, the parts arrived today.

Box marked genuine Mazda, the shocks are black in colour, not the bright yellow Bilstein badged ones I was expecting, have I been sent the wrong ones?

I will contact the supplier tomorrow.

Thank you

I would have thought genuine Bilsteins should be yellow. I suppose the clue is, it says genuine Mazda on the box.
Who’s the supplier?

A local MX-5 specialist, I have used them in the past and found them to be reliable

These are the genuine Mazda rears to fit your car, from Mx5parts.

They are the ones that arrived this morning, are they made by Bilstein?

I have checked the specification for the Venture, it lists Bilstein shock absorbers.

Would fitting the Mazda part make any difference to the handling of the car?

Thanks

From the description it sounds like you have been sent the genuine Mazda shock absorber from the standard suspension setup, not the Bilstein shock absorber for the Venture Edition setup.
They are considerable different in price based on MX-5 Parts listings so would definitely be worth confirming.

Thanks for the comments

I will phone them Saturday

If you look on Mx5parts they list the Bilsteins that you should have fitted.
BTW they differ between the soft top and PRHT
