Yellow spots falling on paintwork

How do I remove bug droppings? Warm, soapy (Fairy liquid) water, cotton-wool and a little patience.  Dab the spots until dissolved, then rinse off with clean water. then wash and polish the car as normal.  Works for me and living in the bush you get any number of flies, bugs and beetles using the car as a toilet!

Bug droppigns are similar to bird poo, in the level of acid, if you get to them early by washing every week then you should have no issue in removing them as part of your normal wash routine.

If left either way they will begin to etch from the acid similar to bird poo and the only real way to remove the etchings is via machining. As for the bug it self all purpose cleaner as a pre rinse will soften the residue of the bug and then should make it easy to remove the actual bug as part of your normal was routine (although ignore the first bit of the sentence at your peril as whilst the bug itself may have been removed the etching can still remain), if necessary consider pre rinsing the bug with products like Valet Pro citrus pre was (in dilute form)

The salt content of the fair liquid would breakdown any protection products to easily.

Thanks for pointing that out.  I’ll just use warm water in future!

I cant comment on oil, but I use several polishes suited to the level of correction required, thickness and softness/hardness of paint

Did you mean wax?

Polish contains abrasives that remove microns of paint when used with a machine or to a lesser extent, by hand

There are many…but suited to specific jobs

See what I mean? Wink
