Any help if possible please, I’ve got the two side panels off, and have unscrewed the four screws, now I’m trying to find the 10mm anti theft bolt on the stereo.
its a RHD motor, all I can find On YouTube are American left hand drive videos, which I suppose means the 10mm would be on the drivers side in this country but I’m not seeing it, would anyone be able to point me in the right direction as I would like to fit a 3.5mm aux cable into the back of the stereo ( a pointer as to what hole the connection goes into would also be a great help )
thanks for any help in advance
Drop the cowl from under the steering wheel/binnacle, look under and to the left up towards the stereo, you can’t miss it.
It’s about half way down the length of the radio.
Unless of course it’s not fitted. ![Laughing Laughing]()
Regarding the aux connector, you can just about get to it by dropping the glove box out.
It’s tricky though. I’d say considering that you are 3/4’s of the way of taking the radio out, continue down that route.
You’ll only need an inch to make the job easier, so no need to fully take it out.
The hole for the connector is on the rear (of course). Looking at the radio from the front, it’s on the left, closest to the glove box.
I found it easier to fit with the aerial wire out, then refit the aerial when the aux cable is fitted.
All ok guys, it was on the drivers side and I saw it after removing the cowl from beneath the steering wheel. I’ve dropped it out where the heater controls are.
And a massive thank you for all your help, she’s new to us this mk3, our mk2.5 is still in my workshop waiting to be completed then sold on, such a shame only 63k on the clock.
I had more trouble getting the head unit out than the seats and carpets!
I suggest remove plastic cowel and the metal support - then a long attachment to reach the bolt!
remove metal bracket:
remove plastic cowel as well!:
now you can see the cursed bolt!
long reach and its out!
