1990 Eunos Original Alloy Wheels

I have to pump up my tyres far more frequently on the MX than on my other car (newer) car. I read somewhere on the forum that this is not unusual due to the “AGE” of the wheels. Is this true as apart from a some corrosion they look fine?

Thanks

Confused

i’ve heard of a porous alloy but never one that had become porous due to age.

could it be you have some “rubbish” on the rim which stops a good seal for the rubber & needs cleaning up?

Thanks Joe. Due for some new rubber in the spring so will make sure the rims are cleaned up before getting them fitted.

PS - Where did you pick up the “Anti-Sheep” device?

What happens is that the paint comes off around where the tyre bead seals, and the resulting corrosion allows air to seep through.  A wheel refurbishment will cure it.  The wheels that came with my car were losing 10psi a week (when I went to pick up the car I’m glad I took a foot pump as some of the tyres were barely keeping the rims off the ground) but were absolutely fine after a refurb.

Hi Roger - Expensive to do?

Typically around £50-70 a corner including removal/fitment of the tyres.

I think I will just have to keep pumping them up for the time being.

Thanks for the info.

BJV Engineering would charge about £200 if you took them the wheels with tyres fitted.
