That is a strange one - I cannot think of a connection between the side lights and instrument panel lights.
There is no relay for these as far as I am aware - instrument panel has very low output bulbs and all 4 sidelights are just 5 watt filaments so no relay required.
Can only suggest checking wiring and block connectors around the stalk switch and instrument cluster area.
Are the bulbs ok ? just thinking outside the box has a power surge taken out all the low power bulbs if that is actually possible
Does the TNS relay not control all of those circuits? Are the number plate lamps not working either?
Nice one Robbie - not heard of this before. Rod Grainger has it positioned on the n/s inner wing with other LA10/LA12 relays. Just been out in the rain to pull the LA10 and LA12 on our 1991 Eunos - neither of these is the TNS relay on our car.
Just looked at my UK spec 1997 MK1 1.6 and totally different to Eunos. Three LA10 relays in a row under the n/s inner wing - horn, TNS relay(tail, numberplate and side lights), and rear foglight. Our 1991 Eunos does not appear to have a TNS relay, well certainly not in the usual place but if your 1992 Eunos has no tail lights, numberplate lights, sidelights and the associated dash lights are out, this is likely the problem.
Unfortunately the Grainger manual is a little sketchy/incorrect on relay details - they have the little HRW/power aerial fusebox listed as a relay.
I would be nice to hear back from you johnfrw - I see you have signed in recently, so in your own good time of course:-)
I’ve not got access to my wiring diagrams to check at the moment but I’d guess it’s on of the ones in the under bonnet fuse box. Removal of the dashboard dimmer switch/short bar plug doesn’t give the same symptoms does it?
See:
LHD, but broadly the same.
Took the car to Carl at Mazda specialist CBS Autos this morning and it turned out to be the switch on the stalk.
However everything about the TNS relay mentioned above is correct.
All ready for the NC500 at the end of the week now
Thanks all
