1995 1.8iS MX5 UK spec BRG

I promised myself I will buy a mazda MX 5 in november… in october. Well never the less, I bought a BRG MX-5 two days (Saturday 3rd) into November I bought one. It is a 1.8iS MX5 finished in British Racing Green or BRG(I prefer to say BRG 'cause it just sounds cooler!) I only paid £250 Which is dirt cheap… and it shows. The biggest problem is that the engine doesn’t fire up but I have researched a little bit and suspect that the Cam Angle Sensor has kicked the bucket. After other inspection I found that the spark plugs are covered in oil! but I’m hoping thats just from trying to start the car so much! Unless someone could advise?
Enough talk and I will now show you all a few snaps of my 5;

(Trying to figure out how to post picture still! I will get it)

As you can see the car is completely stock apart from some grubby cone filter fitted. Right now my main priorities are to get it running and road worthy and to also tackle the rust and to get that BRG color scheme really cleaming!
I hope you all see what I see with this and I will post some updates of how the repair/restoration goes.

Thanks for looking and any feedback would be much appreciated!

can’t see the pics there, sorry…

The oily plugs- I’m assuming you mean oil in the plug bores, in which case its a leaking rocket cover gasket most likely. If it were me I’d also look at the crank breather system to make sure it’s not clogged and forcing oil out where it wouldn’t normally.

I too paid £250 for mine, so welcome to the 250 club!! Cool lol

Thumbs up

Got her started today! Turned out that it was all down to a faulty fuel pump and relay, got that fixed! And the car did have an immobilizer fitted previously but the guy before just cut the wire he needed to and left everything in the car. I found this out by having a look under the dash and saw all the wires were just bundled into a big electrical spaghetti MX-5, I first tried to trace the wires starting from the LED in the center console but that ended very quick as it was just a foot long bit of wire that came straight out! Took me longer to put the screws back in! I then went from the small box at the top of my windscreen and found that to just be connected to a badly taped up wire under my dash, it did help neaten up the mess of wires under there though.I think the next step will be tidying up that colosal mess! Thanks for all you help!
