- My model of MX-5 is: 2006 NC 2.0
- I’m based near: North Wales
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Remap and exhaust manifold
Anybody got any suggestions where to take my 2006 NC 2.0 for a remap and exhaust manifold. I was planning to go to Blink Motorsport but they’ve gone. Ideally in the North West but I don’t mind travelling if I have to
Not sure how far you are prepared to travel, but I went with BBR (I’m from South Essex) and pleased with outcome. 185 kit installed about 4 years ago now with no issues to report. Noticeable improvement in performance and no meaningful impact on economy if driven similarly. Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the quick responses.
Anything any closer to North Wales?
Speak to Mark Evans at Penryn Service Station…he may be able to recommend someone. He’s pretty clued up
I’m near Wigan and took mine over to Roddisons in Sheffield. He took the car over to Autotronix for mapping after he had fitted the manifold (and rebuilt the engine
). It made 185hp with a 4-1 and decat exhaust!
Clive remapped my NC Z Sport, very very happy! BBR gti de cat manifold, IL motorsport cat with IL motorsport/racing beat/mx5 parts SS back box. 179.5 BHP and 149 BHP at the wheels. Power, torque and fuel delivery is silky smooth!
A few questions:
Is there a significant difference from standard set up?
Can I get the exhaust manifold sorted by my local garage and then take it over to Autotronix to save a bit of time?
My car has Meister R, IL motorsport alloy anti roll bars and adjustable links, Nankang NS-2R tyres, set up by Blink motorsport, and a quick shift fitted. It handles nicely but isn’t the quickest of things.
They’re not and never will be the quickest of things round town even with a 180bhp map but they’re quite a lot of fun on track where you can really rev the nuts off it and keep it up between 5 and 7k.
You simply can’t legally keep it in that range on the street so it feels and is quite slow when you get blown off from the lights by any of the household name turbo diesels.
Your mods will definitely help the handling quite a bit.
The biggest difference is it removes the Mazda throttle restriction on 1st and 2nd
Blink Motorsport told me that when I first enquired.
Indeed. Blink told me the same. I have also an OBD port reader and a throttle percentage indicate on a phone app. The throttle now extends to 88%. I’m not sure what it was previously but I trusted Blink and the car goes like stink so all is good
