Just cheked my NA car history and found out i own that car for 20 years!!! now.
I adopted her (NA 1.6 1990) in october 2001 and despite being tempted to trade her in for “another” toy (S2000, MR2, Elise…) i remained loyal to her, these days i’m not even considering trading her for something else anymore.
When i bought her she had 59.000 kms, now she has 176.000 kms, the engine still pulls strongely and doesn’t use any oil (or water). In the begining she was my daily (fun cars were two Mini’s by then) but since 2004 she became my fun-car (daily is an NC now…) so no more rain, salt etc…
The ownership was as you expect faultless and beside regular maintenance i only had to replace;
-Roof ( a new vinyl roof with zip-out window fitted in UK by Dandycars)
-Both door sills
-Had a respray (2004) in the original white colour.
-New manifold (stainless complete line from IL motorsport.)
-A door lock
-Brake discs
That’s it really, pure joy and “no worry” ownership, let’s go for another 20 years!!!
