2005 NC Launch Edition Valuation

Hi All,

Having moved onto a 2010 sport tech BBR 200, its time to sell my previous 5 - a 2005 Launch edition, 67k miles. Problem is I’m unsure as to what a fair price for this would be given its condition and spec!

So good points - it has all the usual launch edition refinements (full sport spec + launch edition red interior and plaque), has had the geo done at BBR and has 4 matching Goodyear eagle F1 tyres on etc - mechanically its in very good order, pulls well, corners well, brakes sharp etc.

EDIT: It has also had rust removed & repaired from the common rust spots (Rear of the sill where it meets the wheel arch)

Its cosmetically where it lets itself down:

  • A patch of lacquer peal on the bonnet, shown in the front pictures (originated from a stone chip which then flaked when washed, paint is still good)
  • A much smaller patch (1p coin sized) of lacquer peal on the passenger side wing
  • A small crack to the paint on the drivers side wing (Visible but I believe still water tight)
  • Some paint chips to the front bumper which have been touched up
  • Some scratches to the passenger rear wheel arch
  • A couple of small light scratches (roughly 2-4cm long) but are not obvious without specifically looking for them!
  • Lacquer peal on the centre rear brake light
  • Some small patches of paint damage to the wheels.

It doesn’t look bad, but I know that it obviously will affect the value of the car.

So, over to you! Any help and guidance greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Think you forgot the mileage ?

Yep, that would help! 67k miles

That’s an interesting one, whether the launch edition extras hold any extra value on a 15 year old car.

Without the LE extras then the market seems to be in the £4,000 - £5,500 range depending on the optimism levels of the seller/trader.

Allegedly the sub £10,000 market is on fire post (this phase of) lockdown. The released from captivity factor/summer effect may add £500 to the price over a winter sale.

I’d probably list at £5 - £5.5 and see if there are any takers though be prepared to move a bit.

I would have pitched it at £5-£5.5k in excellent condition but given it has a few blemishes more like £4.5k and see how it goes.
Detailing of course adds £’s to any car so consider that along with a few paint touch ups here and there. If you want a quick sale then just be prepared for hagglers to well beat you down on price.

£4500 feels right given the paintwork blemishes. The LE model is popular so I’d expect you to have interest. Great cars but then I have one. Best of luck.

This is quite interesting and encouraging - I was thinking it might be lower than that!

I was offered £7k for my LE last year…obviously someone wanted it quite badly and it is immaculate. They do seem to command a premium and ultimately, how quickly do you want it to sell ? My bro-in-law bought an ‘08 Sport last week with 56k miles for £4700 so if you get £4500 taking its less than perfect condition, I’d say you should be pretty happy.

As a guide just spotted this, link below. There is no mention of condition but looks in good nick.

Spotted another with matching hardtop, is this car fitted with a Mazdaspeed bodykit?

How is that worth 7grand…not even a original launch edition… even then 2005 car 7grand …lot of cars out there for that money…

That is way overpriced!! Also, the condition of the interior it pretty filthy - would a reputable dealer not clean the car before taking their sales pictures?!

Thanks everyone for your help on this one - taking your help as well as some sold prices research / other for sale ads etc, it seems like £3500 - £4000 is a fair price for the condition.

Given that I’m reasonably keen to get the car sold sooner rather than later, I think I’m going to put it at £3500. Will put a proper add in the for sale section shortly!

Thanks all!
