2006 MK3 2.0 Sport - not turning over

Hi everyone

Car has been hibernating since mid October, battery has been checked and in good order.

Key turns everything on, and there’s some noise when turning the key - relays etc.

The starter motor doesn’t click or make any attempt to turn over.

Bumped started easily, driven for 10 miles, turned off and still nothing from the starter motor.

I’m no diy mechanic so it’s currently being looked at but mechanic reports that having eventually got to the starter motor tapping it while trying start it has no effect.

Any suggestions or ideas which I can pass on would be welcome.

Thanks in advance
Richard

Rather than tapping it, has the mechanic taken any electrical measurements, for example voltage readings at the starter motor electrical connections?

Not sure, but would have thought so, although with wheel off and inner-wing removed he’s still struggling to get to it. In a phone call a few minutes ago he was going to check all the connectors that he could get to.

I’d suggest using a competent mechanic.
